Power back on after Otago outages

Power has been restored after high winds brought tree branches down on power lines, caused power outages in Central Otago and delaying racing at the Omakau harness racing meeting.

Delta systems control manager Graeme Johnson said a branch had bought a power line down and caused an outage to about 270 connections in Glendhu Bay for about two and a half hours.

A large branch had also fallen on a line in Millers Flat, causing a power outage to about 160 connections for about four hours.

Earlier, a power outage just outside the racecourse put the Omakau harness racing meeting back by two races.
