‘Clearer picture’ of injury cause sough

A man found lying unconscious outside a Queenstown restaurant last Friday is still too unwell to speak to police.

The 48-year-old was taken to hospital in a serious condition after sustaining a head injury outside Graze restaurant at Lake Hayes Estate.

Police were called after reports of a fight about 10pm.

Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka, of Queenstown police, said the man was a resident of Lake Hayes Estate, not from Gore as initially stated.

Police were still trying to get a ‘‘clearer picture'' of what happened. The man had fallen and hit his head, but it was unclear if he had been assaulted.

She urged anyone who had seen what happened - either inside or outside the restaurant - but had not spoken to police, to contact Detective Matt Jones at the Queenstown police station.
