Assault charge at festival

A 44-year-old man has been charged with assault and threatening language after allegedly head-butting a security officer, cracking one of the officer's teeth, at the Heartland Craft Beer Festival in Frankton on Saturday.

Sergeant Steve Watt, of Queenstown, said the man, from the United Kingdom but living in Clyde, and a 42-year-old woman, also living in Clyde, were asked to leave the festival by security aabout 6pm.

Sgt Watt said the pair had allegedly become abusive and the man threatened to head-butt bar staff.

He was restrained by a security officer but then head-butted the officer and the woman tried to pull security staff off her by their neck, Sgt Watt said.

The woman was charged with disorderly behaviour and the man with assault and threatening language.
