Batman, aka Luke Calder, said the high-tech Batmobile, which won the recreational division of the inaugural grand prix, was under "secret construction" in his workshop.
"As we speak, my butler, Alfred, is concocting a few new and innovative additions," Mr Calder said.
"So fellow racers should be warned that Alfred is definitely on the case."
Arrowtown Trolley Grand Prix co-ordinator Julie Hughes said the event was a good community event open to everyone, not just super-heroes and arch-villains.
As well as division prizes, the overall winner of the day will be the fastest trolley across the line.
A public vote also counts towards placings in the separate categories, and Mrs Hughes said there would also be spot prizes.
The race starts in Durham St beside the Arrowtown Preschool and finishes in Ramshaw St.
