A cappella group to perform at charity event

All-male a cappella group the Whiffenpoofs will air their harmonies at a charity dinner in Queenstown next week.

Every year 14 senior students from Yale University, in the United States, are selected to join the 106-year-old group, which is the oldest college singing group in the world.

The current crop have travelled to 24 countries on six continents in the past year.

Their next stop is a couple of charity gigs at the St Moritz Hotel next Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

The group is named after a mythical dragonfish in the 1908 operetta Little Nemo.

The Whiffenpoofs' shows begin at 6.30pm.

Tickets are $75, including a three-course dinner and drinks on arrival, with all profits going to Cure Kids.
