Apparently abandoned vehicles are a hot topic in Queenstown, and 28 complaints have been made to the Queenstown Lakes District Council in the last month.
Council senior communications adviser Michele Poole said four of the vehicles were towed away but 17 were gone when the council's contractors checked.
The rest had valid registrations so were not actually abandoned.
Last week several vehicles in Industrial Place had red notices placed on them, warning the registered owner their vehicle would be towed after 48 hours.
