Concert company a joint effort

A company which aims to bring high-profile entertainers to New Zealand from around the world has been launched, with offices in Queenstown and Taupo.

Greenstone Entertainment brings together Alpine Entertainment and the Gibbston Valley Winery.

Former head of Alpine Entertainment Amanda Calvert is Greenstone Entertainment's chief executive and Gibbston Valley Winery owner Phil Griffith will be chairman.

''We understand the New Zealand market and it's not the same as the Australian market. We solely focus on the New Zealand customer,'' Mr Griffith said.

''Our goal is to deliver world-class, premium concerts and entertainment in key regional New Zealand locations.''

''To do that we've joined the expertise and financial strength of Gibbston Valley Wines with Amanda Calvert and her professional team at Alpine Entertainment providing the concert experience to create a new type of entertainment company.''

The companies previously worked together on events such as Creedence Clearwater Revisited and Dr Hook in 2011 and Little River Band and the Doobie Brothers in 2012.

Ms Calvert said the new business was ''already in the process of working on who our acts will be for 2014 for the Summer Concert Series'' held every February.

She said ticket sales for the upcoming Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Bachman and Turner and America concerts were going ''extremely well'' in all four locations - Taupo, Matakana, Wellington and Gibbston Valley - and were expected to sell out.
