Cup to be on the line

This weekend, the Wakatipu premier rugby team will defend the White Horse Cup for the first time in 2014, while Arrowtown will fight for top honours in a top of the table clash.

After three rounds, Arrowtown is first equal on the table, tied with Upper Clutha A on 15 points.

Wakatipu sits in equal third place, tied on 13 points with 2013 Central Otago Premier champion Maniototo.

Both Wakatipu and Arrowtown notched up their third wins on Thursday night. Wakatipu travelled to Omakau to play Matakanui-Combined, scoring a 37-10 win.

Toi Roberts scored two tries, with one each going to Raf Tahera, Tai Raumaia, James Shere and Rhys Collins. Chris Young kicked and penalty and two conversions.

Arrowtown played the Wakatipu Wanderers at the Queenstown Events Centre, winning 63-0.

On Saturday, Wakatipu will put the White Horse Cup on the line when it hosts Cromwell B, while Arrowtown will host Upper Clutha A. Both games will begin at 2.30pm.
