The Hawea Flat man killed in a car crash at the weekend was a father of two young sons.
Hayden Lloyd Mapp (34), a diesel engineer, was the only person involved in the accident, which happened on Cemetery Rd, Hawea Flat, between 1am and 2.30am on Sunday.
Wanaka sub-area commander Senior Sergeant Allan Grindell said the Serious Crash Unit from Alexandra finished inspecting the accident site yesterday and investigations into the cause of the crash were continuing.
He said Mr Mapp had been on his way to Hawea Flat after attending a function in the Lake Hawea township when the accident occurred.
A family spokesperson said Mr Mapp would be remembered as a good father to his two sons.
The police said on Sunday initial investigations suggested the vehicle, a Toyota Landcruiser, overcorrected after drifting into the gravel verge, then flipped several times.
