Many submissions on lake front plan

Several hundred submitters have had their say on the Queenstown Lakes District Council's draft Wanaka lakefront reserves management plan.

About 320 submissions had been received by5pm yesterday when the consultation period on the plan closed.

However, more were expected to arrive in the post next week, QLDC senior communications adviser Michele Poole said.

Among the issues for consideration under the plan is a proposed Wanaka Watersports Facility for lake users in the southwestern corner of Roys Bay and the possible removal of the long-established Log Cabin from the lakefront.

A public drop-in session held last week to discuss the plan was well-attended. A hearing will be held to consider the submissions.
