Medical care aim of trust

A new trust has been formed in Wanaka to help children access specialist medical care.

The Upper Clutha Children's Specialist Medical Trust is the brainchild of Wanaka woman Bev Rudkin, who wanted to identify and help a group in the community who were in need.

Her Wanaka general practitioner Dr Andrew McLeod suggested helping local children who needed non-urgent specialist attention, for which funding is not readily available.

To be considered for assistance, children will need to be living in the Upper Clutha region, including Makarora, Lake Hawea, Tarras, Queensberry and Cardrona.

There are various criteria to qualify for assistance and grants will be made following a GP's recommendation.

The trust is being launched at a function at Allan and Liz Dippie's home in Meadowstone today, from 5pm.
