Noon: The ASB Queenstown JazzFest continues to take the music direct to the people with free concerts on stages around the Wakatipu today and over the weekend. The Mark Lockett Quartet plays its contemporary Melbourne-flavoured jazz on the Queenstown Village Green; Mike Frost and The Ice Men and Mojo Webb play at Remarkables Park; and the Di Bird Trio delivers swing classics, latin and blues on Arrowtown's Buckingham Green.
Midnight: Mike Frost and the Icemen, King Leo and the Growling Dogs, Mojo Webb and Brilleaux unite for a free late-night Blues Jam at Skycity Queenstown Casino.
Saturday, October 24
2pm: The weekly Arts and Crafts Market, on Earnslaw Park, is given a live Latin soundtrack courtesy of Cuban-inspired Dunedin band Mbryo, followed by Brazilian-based Tambolele.
7pm: Descarga Hunter delivers its original blend of Afro-Cuban Latin and Japanese punk-jazz for free at threesixty restaurant and bar.
8pm: Jazz maestro Rodger Fox and multi-award-winning entertainer Ray Woolf headline at the Millennium Hotel. Backed by an 18-piece band, they transport concert-goers back to the dance halls of the 1930s and 1940s with an evening of classic swing hits. Dinner from 6pm, show doors open from 7.30pm. Dinner and show $130, show only $85 (table of 10, $800).
10pm: The 13-strong Batucada Sound Machine play a blistering set of Pacific soul, reggae, funk, dance and hip-hop at Revolver. Tickets $25 pre-sale or $30 on the door, which opens 8pm.

10.30am: "For Pete's Sake" gospel jazz choir play for free at St Peter's Church, Queenstown.
Monday, October 26
4pm: The 2009 JazzFest goes out in style with Kiri Winders and her 1940s Jazz Club performing everything from sultry cocktail ballads by the piano to upbeat big-band swinging and dancing. Free show in the Winehouse and Kitchen courtyard, in Gibbston. Late lunches are available.
