Pipfruit conference followed by scientists

Queenstown has a busy month coming up hosting conferences.

The New Zealand Pipfruit conference begins tomorrow before an influx of 800 scientists from all over New Zealand and internationally for Queenstown Research Week, August 24-29.

Organised by local organisation Dinamics, the week will include a free lecture by leading researchers Prof Richard Faull and Prof Peter Shepherd, titled ''Latest research advances in cancer, diabetes and brain disease''.

It will be held in the St Peter's Parish Hall in Earl St, Queenstown, on Monday, August 25, from 11.30am to 1pm.

Hundreds of pipfruit growers will converge tomorrow for their three-day conference, which includes sessions on marketing, research and science as well as a field trip to Central Otago orchards on Friday.
