Retailer compliant, police say

Queenstown police are happy with how the resort's sole retailer of synthetic highs has co-operated after the Government made the highs illegal from last Thursday.

Community liaison officer Constable Zoe Albon said the resort's only retailer had been ''really compliant'' and was to send the unsold legal highs back to suppliers.

''That's something that they have a right to do,'' Const Albon said.

Police would ''definitely'' do spot checks but she said they did not expect a problem.

She said while there was no issue with the stockist, there were people in the resort struggling with the effects of the highs.

But ''there's plenty of help'', including sheets of information on the windows of the shop which had been selling the highs.
