After such a complete performance last week against Clyde, it would have been easy for Arrowtown to take its eye off the ball on Saturday when it hosted Alexandra at Jack Reid Park.

However, when the White Horse Cup is at stake, there is never any room for complacency, especially when your opposition knows the pain of losing and is desperate to extract revenge.

The opposition was, of course, Alexandra, the team that Arrowtown beat to claim the White Horse Cup - the prized possession of Central Otago rugby - earlier in the season.

So it took a big effort for the Arrowtown Bulls to stay focused and ruthlessly dispose of the challengers 18-0, with both Aidan Winter and Simon Williams scoring tries.

The Bulls can now rest easy, with the White Horse Cup safe for another fortnight, as they travel over the Crown Range to take on Upper Clutha next Saturday.

The Wakatipu premiers travelled to Clyde-Earnscleugh on Saturday and dished out a good old-fashioned hiding, winning 41-0.

However, things get a little tougher for the Wakatipu boys this weekend when they host another top-four side, Maniototo, in what should be the match of the round.

Kick-off is 2.45pm on Saturday at the Queenstown Recreation Grounds.
