Sir Ray Avery, Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year and winner of the Blake Leadership Medal in 2010, will share his story with members of the U3A in Queenstown next week.
Sir Ray's work has focused on medical innovations for developing countries in Africa and Asia, including manufacturing intraocular lenses for use in cataract surgery.
In Queenstown, he will also explain his fundraising campaign for ''PlunketPlus'', an iPhone and iPad programme which allows Plunket nurses and parents to share information instantly, improving monitoring and advice.
Sir Ray's presentation will be held at the St Margaret's Church hall in Frankton from 10am until noon next Friday. Proceeds from the $5 admission will be donated to PlunketPlus.
