Summer only ended days ago but already the Remarkables skifield has been covered with snow.
Pictured is the Alta chairlift and the skifield's base building with construction machinery associated with the $45 million upgrade.
The skifield is scheduled to open on June 21 with a new six-seater chairlift, 1.6km of new trails, more snow-making equipment and more car parking.
NZSki expects to begin sealing the skifield's access road this month with the bottom 4km of the 13km alpine road to be ready for this ski season.
While NZSki's website said the Remarkables skifield had received 20cm of snow yesterday, MetService said warmer weather was on the horizon for the skifield, with a high of 6degC today and 10degC tomorrow. Coronet Peak also received a dusting of snow during the latest temperature plunge.
