Local film company Reason Films' new snowboarding flick premieres next week, featuring the exploits of some of Australasia's hottest snowboarders during the northern hemisphere winter.
With New Zealand boarders Nick Brown and Nick Hyne, as well as a host of Australian talent, snowboarding in Europe, Japan and America over a period of three months, the film will have its Australian and New Zealand premiere at Revolver next Friday.
Queenstown based film-maker Ben Ryan (29) shot and directed the half-hour production along with film-maker John Waddell and motion graphic designer Lindsay Horner of Melbourne.
"Their sponsors financed us to go overseas and film the season, and make it into a film," said Mr Ryan, who is involved filming full-time with Reason Films during the snow season.
He said the movie was "typical" of the genre in that it was broken into sections for different riders, and a lot of the snowboarding focus was predominantly back country and street-rails.
One of the highlights was the abundant "Shinsetsu" deep powder snow in Japan which he said made for "some fun chuting".
The premiere starts at 8.30pm on Friday, June 10, and Mr Ryan said it would be a "big night" ahead of the scheduled opening of Coronet Peak next week.
"It's the start of the season and it gets people amped for the snow."
Also premiering at Revolver next week - on Wednesday - is the American-produced mountain biking movie 3 Minute Gap, which Revolver owner John Stapleton said contained a Queenstown riding segment.
