Third RWC team to be known on Nov 27

Queenstown residents will know by the end of this month whether they will be hosting Uruguay or Romania for training during next year's Rugby World Cup.

The town is already confirmed as a training base for the English and Irish teams.

Destination Queenstown communications manager Jen Andrews said a nail-biting first repechage match was played between the two nations last Saturday.

The Rugby World Cup used a repechage system for its qualification process - a practice among ladder competitions allowing participants that miss qualifying by only a small margin to continue to the next round.

Uruguay - looking to reach its third World Cup - pulled out all the stops to keep the dream alive by fighting back to draw 21-21 with Romania at Estadio Charrua stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The winner of the second leg of the repechage, to be played on November 27 in Bucharest, Romania, will take the final 2011 Rugby World Cup place and go into Pool B alongside Argentina, England, Scotland and Georgia.

Queenstown will act as an official Rugby World Cup 2011 training venue for three teams - Ireland, England and the winner of the November 27 match.
