Ultra-fast network in resort

Queenstown residents and businesses have been given a new choice in the growing competitive fibre broadband market with the entry of Orcon's ''ultra-fast network''.

Orcon chief executive Greg McAlister said unlimited fibre stopped squabbles in the home by allowing more people to stream TV or games at the same time.

''It also removes those awkward flat or family meetings after you receive a massive bill for smashing your data cap.''

Results from a survey commissioned by Orcon late last year, show 40% of New Zealand households expected to use more data in 2014.
