Van driver charged after collision

Wanaka Constable Greg Nolet and a group of Chinese tourists survey the damage done to the tourists' passenger van in a crash near Luggate yesterday afternoon.

Constable Nolet said the van was one of two heading to Tekapo.

The second vehicle, driven by a man in his 30s, failed to stop at a give way sign and was clipped by a passing SUV which was unable to avoid it because of other traffic.

No-one was injured.

The driver has been charged with failing to give way and the group was organising a replacement van in Queenstown.
