Changes to the way vehicles access Searle and Church Lanes are now in place and will result in improved safety for pedestrians.
Queenstown Lakes District Council infrastructure project manager Lane Vermaas said the changes also reflected wider safety concerns from businesses occupying both lanes.
Vehicle access to Searle Lane from Camp St is no longer permitted and Church Lane can be accessed only from Church St by goods delivery vehicles.
Goods delivery vehicles can enter Searle Lane only from Church Lane, between 5am and noon.
Outside those hours only pedestrian access is allowed.
Parking was not permitted in Searle Lane, with the exception of delivery vehicles off-loading, Mr Vermaas said.
Signage had also been installed.
