Walking in aid of Cancer Society

Arrowtown School pupils join forces with their peers at Remarkables Primary School on Friday to raise the profile of the Cancer Society's major fundraising event ''Relay for Life'' in Cromwell to be held at the weekend.

Remarkables will host the fundraising event ''Relay for a Day'', which will involve each pupil walking at some stage throughout the school day.

Parents and members of the public are invited to come and walk with them''We are encouraging a gold coin donation from everyone who takes part in the relay, but hoping that the community and local businesses will get behind the cause, the efforts of the students and pop in and drop donations in the Cancer Society buckets,'' organiser Rachael Middleton said.

''We are trying to advertise the event so that people turn up and we can raise as much money as possible for the Cancer Society,'' she said.
