Thousands of eager winter warriors picked up their snow gear at Queenstown's bargain bash on Sunday.

The Wakatipu Ski Club Sale, at Queenstown Events Centre, has become an annual pilgrimage for those preparing for a season on the mountains.

This year the sale did $134,000 worth of business in just two hours. Organiser Peter Devine said the club will make about $25,000 of that, through commission and fees. ``It went really well,'' he said.

``Numbers were a little down on last year. I'd conservatively say we had more than 2000 people come through the doors.

The queue just to purchase gear was about 200 metres long at one point but no-one I spoke to in it was unhappy. They all felt they were getting great value for money.''
