$4450 for trust

More than 130 Queenstown residents raised in excess of $4450 for the Bruce Grant Youth Trust during Shotover Canyon Swing and Canyon Fox locals weekends.

Two events were held, in which locals could try the new Shotover Canyon Fox for a few gold coins, with all proceeds going to the trust.

Shotover Canyon Swing general manager Matt Hollyer said he was delighted to see people making the most of the experience and ``doing their bit for charity''.

``Every year we're blown away by the generosity of others and we're proud to be able to make a difference to young individuals in the area. Together we've raised money to support the trust's next round of grants later this year.''

Bruce Grant trustee Craig Ferguson was pleased with the amount raised. The money would go towards allowing people under the age of 25 to chase their dreams and aspirations, he said.

``Helping kids follow their dreams is our dream.

``The grants support the youth of our community including a cricketer in Scotland, a triathlete who's competed in Japan, a musician heading to the USA, and skiers and snowboarders competing in Europe and North America.

``Throughout its 20 years of business, the trust has always been amazed and thankful for the fantastic support from our local business community.''
