Passenger numbers at Queenstown Airport reached more than 2.1 million in the 12 months to June, a 13% year-on-year increase.

Queenstown Airport’s monthly passenger statistics showed the total number of passengers who travelled through the terminal last month was 144,151, a 16% lift on June 2017.

Domestic traffic increased by 18%, to 104,824, driven by an additional 70 landings during the month, compared with June last year.

Transtasman arrivals increased by 9%, to 39,327, helped by an additional 10 internationals landings for the month.

Overall seat capacity increased by 11%, or 18,734 seats, compared with last June. Numbers ramped up in the second half of the month, attributed to the Queenstown Winter Festival and the Australian school holidays.

In the 12 months to June, passenger numbers reached 2,140,669, compared with 1,892,443 for the 12 months to June 2017.
