Car rolls on Crown Range road

Police are urging motorists to drive to winter conditions following a one car accident on the Crown Range road this morning.

Sergeant Keith Newell, of Queenstown, said a four-wheel-drive vehicle being driven by a Wanaka man was heading towards Queenstown when it rolled just before snow chain bay three.

He said the accident happened about 9.50am. Queenstown ambulance, Wanaka volunteer fire service and police from Wanaka and Queenstown attended, but there were no injuries.

Sgt Newell said drivers should take extra care as there was ice and grit on the road.

''It's winter driving conditions and drivers should allow extra time for their journey,'' he said.

''If the journey takes an extra 20 minutes so be it,'' he said.

The road was cleared by 10.45am.
