Sergeant Keith Newell, of Queenstown, said a four-wheel-drive vehicle being driven by a local Wanaka man was heading towards Queenstown when it rolled just before snow chain bay three.
The accident happened about 9.50am, he said.
The Wanaka Volunteer Fire Brigade, Wanaka and Queenstown police and Queenstown ambulance personnel attended, but there were no injuries.
Sgt Newell said drivers should take extra care, as there was ice and grit on the road.
He said drivers should allow extra time for their journeys.
''If the journey takes an extra 20 minutes, so be it,'' he said.
The road was cleared by 10.45am.
