Feedback sought on proposed SHA

The Queenstown Lakes District Council is seeking community feedback over a proposed special housing area at Ladies Mile.

Laurel Hills wants to develop 9.38ha of land between State Highway 6 and Shotover Country, to build another 156 houses.

The company's directors are Queenstown builders Wayne Foley, of Trinity Development, Fraser Mackenzie, of David Reid Homes, Shekhar Balasubramanian, of Malaysia, and Tim Allan, of Christchurch.

Laurel Hills' lot sizes would range from 110sqm to 834sqm, along with a centrally located community park and extensive pedestrian and cycle connections to the Twin Rivers trail.

Ten percent of the developable land would be for affordable housing.

Public feedback closes at 5pm on March 1 and the proposal will be considered by the council on March 7.
