Former mayor ‘chuffed’ to see investment

Former Queenstown mayor Glyn Lewers says he’s "really chuffed" the government’s finally investing in this district’s health services.

Lewers says the announcement’s the result of a huge amount of hard work by a large number of people over a long time, but pays particular credit to Southland MP Joseph Mooney, and describes it as a ‘‘step-change’’ in health provision in the area.

"Now we’ve just got to make sure the general hospital happens . . . I do believe that should be in Queenstown."
