Major roadworks begin

Motorists will need to allow extra travel time on the Crown Range Rd, which links the Wakatipu Basin and Wanaka, from Monday as two months of major roadworks begin.

Queenstown Lakes District Council infrastructure general manager Erik Barnes said yesterday while every effort was being made to keep the road open, some closures of up to 20 minutes would be needed.

It is expected no more than two closures per day will be required from Monday to Wednesday, but times will vary. Road closures will

take place between 9am and 5pm to avoid inconveniencing commuter traffic.

Sealing work on the road will take place from January 31 to February 1. Traffic will be reduced to one lane.
