Man charged after Queenstown bar fight

A Queenstown man has appeared in the Queenstown District Court this morning on a serious assault charge after an altercation with a Cromwell man outside a downtown bar about 1.20am yesterday.

Sergeant Keith Newell, of Queenstown police, said a dispute between the pair began inside the bar and carried on outside, with one injuring the other after smashing a bottle on a chair.

Appearing before a Justice of the Peace, both men were remanded on bail to reappear on March 20.

Daniel De Lima Feitosa (28), of Queenstown, is charged with injuring Ricardo De Abreu Ribeiro (30), of Cromwell, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, while Ribeiro is charged with assaulting Feitosa.
