A Queenstown man has been arrested and charged following a late-night assault in the resort.
The 24-year-old victim remained in a stable condition in Lakes District Hospital last night following the serious assault in Brunswick St late on Sunday. The extent of his injuries was still being assessed last night.
His 29-year-old alleged assailant was arrested last night and charged with injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, police said.
``Police are calling for anyone who may have been in the Brunswick St/Thompson St area between 10.15pm and 10.45pm on Sunday and who believes they may have relevant information in relation to the assault to contact Queenstown police.''
Police said the incident appeared to be an isolated one ``with the two men apparently known to each other''.
The alleged offender has been bailed to appear in the Queenstown District Court on May 1.
