Both lanes of the new State Highway 6 bridge between Kelvin Heights and Frankton are expected to be open in May.
NZ Transport Agency senior project manager Phil Dowsett yesterday said an accelerated work programme was about to begin on the $22million Kawarau Falls Bridge.
The programme includes finishing a pedestrian and cycling underpass and fitting water pipes under the bridge.
``For most of the first three weeks of this five-week programme construction crews will be on site 24 hours, Monday to Friday.''
Noisier work would be done during the day.
