The Queenstown Lakes District council is investigating  whether the developer of the Marina Terrace Apartments in Wanaka has breached any consents.

The investigation follows a landslip on the Lakeside Rd construction site on September 7 which resulted in a slow-moving mudslide covering the road.

Traffic was blocked in both directions and diversions were in place for more than a week.

At the time, a spokesman for developer Multiplied Investment Partners, Matt Tuck confirmed the landslip occurred because the site had become destabilised as a result of removing vegetation and waterlogged soil.

QLDC principal monitoring and enforcement officer Anthony Hall said "we are currently working with the developers to establish the timeline of events and exactly what happened."

He said QLDC could not provide further information at this time as it could affect the ongoing investigation.
