Queenstown stabbing: Otago man back in NZ

An Otago man is to appear in the Queenstown District Court in relation to the stabbing of two men in central Queenstown last weekend.

The 20-year-old is facing two charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and will appear on Monday.

A warrant for his arrest was issued while he was on a flight to Australia on Monday, August 19.

Senior Sergeant Steve Watt, of Queenstown, said the man was flown back to New Zealand on Wednesday night.

The charges stem from a confrontation in Camp St, about 2.20am on Sunday, which police say involved up to 15 people.

Two men were flown separately to Dunedin Hospital suffering from stab wounds.

Both remain in hospital in a stable condition.
