Remand on dangerous driving death charge

A man charged with dangerous driving causing death after a fatal Queenstown accident has been remanded on bail without plea.

Mrs Cullen (49), an Australian, was pronounced dead at the scene on Gibbston Highway (SH6), near the Crown Range turn-off, despite the efforts of emergency services staff.

Three other people were seriously injured, including Goh. They were flown to Dunedin Hospital.

Goh is also charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing injury, to Terry Cullen and Jia Xin Neo.

The Cullens were on holiday in the resort.

The charge of dangerous driving causing death carries a maximum sentence of 10 years' imprisonment and a $20,000 fine. Dangerous driving causing injury carries a five-year maximum and $20,000 fine.

Goh was remanded to appear in the Queenstown District Court on April 3.

The remand was granted last week, although technically his first appearance was yesterday morning. He was not required to appear in court.
