Sex assault claims 'unfounded'

Police say a recent allegation of a sexual assault in Queenstown was ''unfounded'', and they are no longer investigating.

An investigation was launched earlier this month after claims a man had followed a woman to her home in Fernhill before sexually violating her.

It was claimed the attacker was "scared off" from the woman’s house during the attack after her cellphone rang repeatedly.

In a statement today police said they had determined that the allegation was unfounded and no further investigation was needed.
