Unicorns also welcome at teddy bear social occasion

Vera Muldoon (3), of Arthurs Point, is dressed to impress with her mum, Amy Schmitt, at yesterday’s Teddy Bears’ Picnic, held at Jack Reid Park in Arrowtown.

Initially planned for the Queenstown Events Centre, the event was moved to Arrowtown’s community centre because of forecast rain.

As well as stilt walkers and hula-hoopers, outdoor games, face-painting, music and snacks, the Arrowtown Volunteer Fire Brigade was on hand with a hose, being used as a sprinkler, while indoors, children were entertained by a variety of storytellers.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
