A decision may be made on the second stage of a Special Housing Area in Queenstown next month.

Bullendale developers Shane Fairmaid and Buzz March applied to extend their initial SHA, at Arthurs Point, in November last year.

That application was approved by the council in May and was sent to Associate Housing Minister Jenny Salesa for consideration.

Yesterday, she said the application was still going through Cabinet and an ''update'' should be available in mid-November.

The first stage of the Bullendale SHA, an 88-unit development, was approved by
the previous government in June 2016, six months after the council submitted its recommendation.

Bullendale's second stage proposed an additional 92 units, comprising 39 houses and 53 apartments, on about 4.12ha of land immediately west of its existing site on land owned by Frank Tomasi and family.

If approved, 10% of the developable area would be provided to the Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust.
