The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) wants to hear from witnesses to a light plane crash at Queenstown Airport on Tuesday.

One passenger received an ankle injury when a Cessna 177 with four people aboard crashed just after taking off about 8.45am.

CAA spokeswoman Philippa Lagan said it would interview the pilot and passengers, but would assess information from the police before deciding if a trip to Queenstown was necessary.
