Information provided by locals has led to police making arrests over an alleged hit-and-run incident in Twizel at the weekend.
Two people were reportedly hit by a car after an altercation between partygoers in Mackenzie Dr about 3am on Sunday.
Police today said they had arrested two men. A 23-year-old was charged with male assaults female, assault with intent to injure, and injures with intent to injure, while a 21-year-old was charged with two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Both men live near Twizel and are due to appear in the Timaru District Court on November 21.
Police said information from local people led to the charges being laid, and further arrests were likely.
