Police have named the man who died from injuries nine days after a crash in South Canterbury as 93-year-old grandfather William Gordon Howey.
Howey was injured and taken to hospital after a two-car crash on the Timaru-Temuka Highway in South Canterbury on March 8.
He died from his injuries on Saturday March 17.
The causes of the crash are being investigated.
A death notice said Howey "lived every day of his 93 years to the full and was a true inspiration, not only to his family, but to many in the community".
"He was the adored and best mate of Gwenyth for over 65 years."
He was a father and grandfather to many children.
On March 4, 19-year-old Tyler Breen was killed after a two-car crash in South Canterbury.
Breen, from Temuka, died after the crash on the Temuka-Orari Highway.
His death followed another fatal crash in the area less than two weeks before.
Ricky James Foster, 34, of Temuka, was killed in a crash near Winchester at 12.05am on February 20.
