A man who died after crashing his car into a tree near Waimate earlier this week has been named.
Police said Barry Edgar Sherwood, a 77-year-old Waimate man, died after his car hit a tree between Parkers Bush Rd and Kapua School Rd at 12.30pm on Monday.
Police said they wanted to hear from anyone who saw a grey 1997 Nissan Cefiro being driven erratically on or near the Hakataramea Highway (State Highway 82) around that time.
