Motorcyclist killed in crash near Timaru

A motorcyclist is dead after crashing through a fence near Timaru this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene, near the intersection of Rosewill Valley Road and King Road, in the Washdyke area, about 7.55am.

In a statement police said the motorcyclist died following the crash.

Cordons are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

The Serious Crash Unit is examining the scene.
