An 80-year-old woman is dead following a collision between a car and a van near Timaru this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to scene near the intersection of State Highway 1 and Arowhenua Station Rd around 2.30pm.
The woman was critically injured and was transported with her male passenger to Timaru Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The man's condition was not known.
Diversions are in place, and the Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
