The use of social media as a tool for bullies has been brought to the attention of Balclutha police.
Senior Constable Tanya Grant said a youth had received posts and videos perceived to be of a threatening and bullying nature.
She said the youth and adults involved ''should know better''.
Snr Const Grant said the use of social media to send these types of messages was very concerning to police and the wider community. It had the potential to be very harmful to the targeted person or the recipient.
''Think before posting any comments,'' she said.
Offenders could face charges under the Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015.
