Milton businesses burgled

Police are stepping up patrols as they investigate a spate of burglaries at businesses in South Otago.

In the past few weeks, five burglaries have been reported, all occurring in the early hours of the morning in the Milton area.

Cigarettes, tools, cash and alcohol have been taken.

Police said today they are following positive lines of inquiry and patrols have been increased.

Business owners have been encouraged to boost security measures, and anyone who would like advice on how to do this should contact their local police station.

Police want people to report anything suspicious they see, and if they witness a crime happening contact 111 immediately.

Information could also be provided anonymously by using the Crimestoppers phone line 0800 555 111.
