Woman killed in Catlins quad bike crash named

Police have named the elderly woman who died in a quad bike crash on a farm in the Catlins last week.

She was Alice Shirley MacKenzie, of the Catlins, in South Otago.

The 83-year-old died when a quad bike rolled on a rural property in Chaslands, west of Papatowai, on Thursday last week.

Worksafe was advised and the death will be referred to the coroner, police said.

A police spokeswoman said at the time Fire and Emergency New Zealand, St John, and local police, had been dispatched to the farm on Greenfield Rd, near Coleman Rd in the Chaslands area.

Fenz spokeswoman Lyn Crosson said crews from the Tokanui Volunteer Fire Brigade and the Papatowai Volunteer Rural Fire Force were on scene to assist police.
