The annual process of writing off unrecoverable rates arrears on Maori land in Clutha was executed by the Clutha District Council this week.
It is a practice adopted by the council since 2001, when it agreed that rates owed on Maori land would be reviewed and written off annually, if they could not be recovered.
Last year, the council wiped $9933.50 of rates owed on 22 parcels of land.
The amount written off for the 2008-09 year, confirmed this week, was $10,492.30.
